Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers, who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well, because they went forth for His name’s sake, taking nothing from the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth (3 Jn. 5–8).
Our God and Father,
You desire and deserve to be praised by every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. And so it is our great privilege as Your church not only to seek the salvation of our neighbors, but also all nations of the earth, by sending and supporting missionaries called and equipped to spread the fame of Your Name in every land.
Father, we pray in particular for Reuben and Lydia and their ministry among the Ganj people.
We pray, first, that You would strengthen their family. We ask that You would continue to make Reuben a faithful husband and father and that You would grant Lydia endurance to care for their children in a hard place. We thank you for the birth of Horatio Peter, and pray that you would keep him and Lucia healthy. And we ask that as they seek to glorify You first in their home, their family would be worthy of imitation among the Ganj people.
We also thank You for the work that You have accomplished through them so far, and for the ways You have provided for them. We ask that You would grant them skill and wisdom in language acquisition, as they develop a written language for the Ganj. Father, we love Your Word, for in it we find the message of salvation found only in Jesus Christ. And so we ask that You would grant this gift to the Ganj people, that they would confess that Jesus is Lord and be built up as members of Your one Church.
We now ask that You would help Reuben and Lydia as they head back to their village. We pray that Your Spirit would grant them peace and comfort, as well as a renewed zeal for the good works that You have prepared beforehand for them to walk in. We pray that You would keep them safe from all sickness and danger, and that You would sustain their bodies as well as their souls.
We also pray for our churches here in Moscow. That You would bind us together with our brothers and sisters laboring in faraway lands. That Your Spirit would lead us to keep them in our prayers, that we would support them in a way that brings You honor, and also that You would raise up more laborers among us to send out for the sake of Your Name.
We know that from the rising of the sun even to its setting, Your Name will be made great among the nations. And so we ask that You would bless this work among the Ganj people to that end, for we pray all of this in the name of Jesus. And amen.
